PWT^®-pH water treatment contains the strongest animal feed grade mineral acid available. A much lower addition rate is required to acidify drinking water to biologically effective low pH levels without creating a bitter taste. More palatable water means birds won’t back off from PWT^® treated water allowing optimum water consumption to be maintained—thereby improving weight gain and feed conversion, resulting in a reduced flock cost.

As the strongest and most affordable acidifier on the market, PWT^® has a minimal addition rate that saves even more money as part of an acidification or chlorination program. Plus, regular use of PWT^® is a safe and effective way to clean scale and bio-film from poultry water lines, creating a maximum flow rate.

PWT^® Product Chemistry

When PWT^® is applied it breaks down into sodium, hydrogen and sulfate.

NaHSO₄ –> Na⁺ + H⁺ + SO₄-

The hydrogen lowers pH, a measure of the number of hydrogen ions in a solution. PWT^® is the safest mineral acid that breaks down into products naturally found in the environment.

Alkalinity

Alkalinity is the buffering capacity of water. It measures the ability of water to neutralize acids thereby maintaining a stable pH. Alkalinity of water consists of bicarbonates, carbonates, and hydroxides, which combine with H+ ions to neutralize them. High alkalinity water requires more acid to reduce the pH.
